With some packages, "plugs"
may be used to assist stretching the heated plastic into the form cavity.
"Plugs" are objects shaped like the cavity they fit
into that forge the plastic film more precisely to the desired shape.
Traditionally, the apparatus which
controls and actuates plugs uses twin air cylinders. R. Paven
Engineering has developed a single cylinder version which has major
advantages and improvements over the traditional unit.
Motion of the assembly is smooth
and consistent
It has less moving components to
wear out
It is easier to troubleshoot
It requires much less maintenance
It uses composite bushings
requiring no lubricant
Built-in reed switches are simpler
to adjust than previous limit switches
The single cylinder uses 1/4 of the
air that the old system uses
The support shafts (frame) is case
hardened stainless steel instead of the original nickel plated steel
Access to the entire system is
exceptionally easy. Just remove the safety cover and it is all
there.
